Post-Rock/Metal and beyond...

st.fallen:
this is going to be a list of post-rock/metal bands that I've come across or have been recommended... and anything along post-rock lines even if it doesn't really fit in the genre.

so, where do I start:

If These Trees Could Talk

this band was recommended to me. if I were to describe their sound, I'd relate it to Agalloch, except without vocals, and less of the black metal element. I think the band's name should say enough...

2006 - Self-titled

2009 - Above The Earth, Below The Sky

I strongly recommend the second album, though both are really good. Strong points of each: Malabar Front, Thirty-Six Silos.

Caspian

Like the previous band, except maybe more... dreamy?
I suck at describing these bands... Caspian is really light listening, but there are quite a few intense moments, though a bit too far apart. Still it's worth a listen, and a really good album to chill out to:

2009 - Tertia

Trey Gunn

okay so this isn't really post-rock, more like experimental, artsy prog, but quite minimalist in a way. Trey Gunn played guitar for King Crimson at one point. I haven't had a proper listen to a lot of his albums, but from what I've heard it's good stuff. Sadly there's not a lot of links to download, but these are worth downloading:

Russian Circles

these guys are very much like Pelican, post-metal, heavy riffs, and... well there's not much to say about it really. it just sounds good when you're in the right state of mind. *cough cough*  *cough cough cough* (hint hint)

2006 - Enter

2009 - Geneva

will post more as I come across stuff

meanwhile, let me know what you guys think?
and you're more than welcome to fill this thread up with your own finds (:

st.fallen:
oh and one more

The Ocean

this bands been around for about a decade, and they've had nearly 40 members come and go in that time. with a new vocalist, their sound has really transformed. their latest effort, Heliocentric, is part of a double album, the latter of which is due this Fall. the concept basically critiques Christianity, from the heliocentric view to Darwin, and on to modern creationism in the second album.

as for their sound, it's like Dream Theater and Isis had a baby together. I say baby because their not at the same level as either band, but they've got potential.

2010 - Heliocentric

their older stuff is also supposed to be pretty good, though this one is with a different vocalist, therefore a different sound. but here goes:

2004 - Fluxion
