Ok, here are some movies which are really good.

A Scanner Darkly: An undercover cop in a not-too-distant future becomes involved with a dangerous new drug and begins to lose his own identity as a result.

Arang: A salt storehouse near the sea may be haunted. A penniless ex-con dies a gristly death in a house he can ill afford. The detectives assigned the case are Min, newly reinstated after a suspension, and Lee, a new transfer from forensics. Min has nightmares: a sexual assault that haunts her. She and Lee work well together, but soon two more deaths occur - each mysteriously poisoned, both friends of the ex-con.

Children of Men: In 2027, in a chaotic world in which humans can no longer procreate, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea, where her child's birth may help scientists save the future of humankind.

Clerks: Just Because They Serve You... Doesn't Mean They Like You.

Clerks 2: A calamity at Dante and Randall's shops sends them looking for new horizons - but they ultimately settle at Mooby's, a fictional Disney-McDonald's-style fast-food empire.

Diary of the Dead: A group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.

Diving Bell and the Butterfly: The true story of Elle editor Jean-Dominique Bauby who suffers a stroke and has to live with an almost totally paralyzed body; only his left eye isn't paralyzed.

Harakiri: Peace in 17th-century Japan causes the Shogunate's breakup of warrior clans, throwing thousands of samurai out of work and into poverty. An honorable end to such fate under the samurai code is ritual suicide, or hara-kiri (self-inflicted disembowelment). An elder warrior, Hanshiro Tsugumo (Tatsuya Nakadai) seeks admittance to the house of a feudal lord to commit the act. There, he learns of the fate of his son-in-law, a young samurai who sought work at the house but was instead barbarically forced to commit traditional hara-kiri in an excruciating manner with a dull bamboo blade. In flashbacks the samurai tells the tragic story of his son-in-law, and how he was forced to sell his real sword to support his sick wife and child. Tsugumo thus sets in motion a tense showdown of revenge against the house.

Hunger: The last six weeks of the life of the Irish republican hunger striker Bobby Sands.

In the Name of the Father: Based on the true story of Gerry Conlon, a Belfast youth who - along with family members and friends - was wrongly convicted of bombing two pubs outside of London.

Last Life in the Universe: A suicidal, obsessive-compulsive Japanese librarian is forced to hide out with a pot-smoking Thai woman at her shabby beachside home.

Men Behind the Sun: Japanese troops round up Chinese and Russian prisoners of war and take them to a place called Squadron 731, where they are grotesquely tortured and experimented on to test new biological weapons.

O Brother, Where Art Thou: Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey", set in the deep south during the 1930's. In it, three escaped convicts search for hidden treasure while a relentless lawman pursues them.

Persopolis: Poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution.

Rescue Dawn: A US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War. A true story of survival... declassified.

Sunshine: A team of astronauts are sent to re-ignite the dying sun 50 years into the future.

Tape: Three old high school friends pass the time in a Michigan motel room dissecting the painful memories of their high school years.

The Notebook: Behind every great love is a great story.

The Usual Suspects: A boat has been destroyed, criminals are dead, and the key to this mystery lies with the only survivor and his twisted, convoluted story beginning with five career crooks in a seemingly random police lineup.

DeathNote: Shinigami own notebooks called "Death Notes" which are used as killing devices. Whoever's name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds.

Chaos Theory: The story of an obsessively organized efficiency expert whose life unravels in unexpected ways when fate forces him to explore the serendipitous nature of love and forgiveness.

Revenge Trilogy:
{
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance: Revenge Was Never This Sweet

Old Boy: 15 years of imprisonment, five days of vengeance

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance: All she wanted was a peaceful life...they didn't give it
}

Three Extremes: An Asian cross-cultural trilogy of horror films from accomplished indie directors.

Requiem for a Dream: The hopes and dreams of four ambitious people are shattered when their drug addictions begin spiraling out of control.

Johnny Got his Gun: Joe, a young American soldier, is hit by a mortar shell on the last day of World War I. He lies in a hospital bed in a fate worse than death --- a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth and nose. You may remember the video of 'One' by Metallica.

Der Siebente Kontinent: Georg and his wife Anna realize how monotonous and isolated their life is when their daughter Eva, in a desperate attempt to get attention, suddenly pretends to be blind.

Eden Lake: Refusing to let anything spoil their romantic weekend break, a young couple confront a gang of loutish youths with terrifyingly brutal consequences. Based on true events.

Let the Right One in: Oscar, an overlooked and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.

Tsotsi: Six days in the violent life of a young Johannesburg gang leader

Sympathy For Mr Vengeance (Korean)

It’s one of the darkest films You'll ever see..I’ll describe one of the earlier scenes. We see a group of boys franticly beating off with ears pressed against the wall, listening to the moans of the woman next door. One says, “This is great!” Pan through the wall to the terminally ill woman, writhing about her bed in agony. Pan to hear deaf mute brother, happily slurping noodles with his back to the whole scene.

RYU, a young factory worker who recently got fired by his boss, is struggling to look after his sister, who is dying a slow, agonizing death for want of a kidney. When a doctor tells Ryu that he is an unsuitable donor and that the chances of finding one is slim, Ryu turns to the black market. But the old lady who runs an underground organ ring cheats him, taking both his life savings and his kidney and leaving him without the kidney she promised in exchange.

Ryu's girlfriend, YOUNGMIN, urges Ryu to kidnap the four-year-old daughter of his former Boss PARK DONG-JIN. (The guy who fired him). Ryu agrees, but just as the plan is on the verge of success, Ryu's sister discovers what Ryu and Youngmin have been up to, and kills herself in despair.

Compounding the tragedy, the kidnapped child gets killed. Dong-jin (The Father of the killed child) watches his kids body being autopsied (chest ripped open & all the intestines pulled out infront of him) and his grief is unimaginable, he quickly turns to rage and he embarks on an implacable quest for vengeance. He gets hold of Ryu's girlfriend & what he do to her will make your blood chill.

At the same time, Ryu goes after the organ traders, knowing that if they had come through, none of the tragic occurrences would ever have happened.

This is the first part of the Vengeance Trilogy. Second film is the cult classic "Oldboy"..but for me this one is way better...
